Frequently Asked Questions

DO I REQUIRE A PRESCRIPTION FOR BLACK SEED OIL?

No. You do not need a prescription for Black Seed Oil. It is a natural food supplement, NOT a prescribed drug.

WHICH STRENGTH SHOULD I START WITH?

If you’ve never taken Black Seed Oil before, we recommend that you start with our Original oil. If you’re switching to our Oil from another brand, we would suggest starting on our Strong oil. You can find more answers about Strengths & Dosages here.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I TAKE BLACK SEED OIL?

We recommend taking Black Seed Oil daily.

HOW MUCH BLACK SEED OIL SHOULD I TAKE?

We have put together some suggestions for dosage which you can find here.

IS BLACK SEED OIL SAFE TO CONSUME?

There are very few known side effects, which you can read about here. However if you are unsure – particularly if you are taking prescribed medication or have a medical condition, we would always advise checking with your GP.

WHAT DOES BLACK SEED OIL TASTE LIKE?

You could describe the taste as a mixture of Black Pepper, Onion, Oregano, and perhaps even liquorice. A good quality Black Seed Oil has a real spicy profile, which can make your tongue tingle in the same way that Chilli powder will.

WHAT IF I DON’T LIKE THE TASTE?

You can mask the taste by following up with a spoonful of good quality honey, or by a small glass of fresh fruit juice. Alternatively, Black Seed Oil Capsules offer a near tasteless way of consuming the oil – as well as adding further convenience and with less mess.

SHOULD BLACK SEED OIL BE TAKEN WITH OR WITHOUT FOOD?

There is no written rule here – what works best for one, may not work best for another.
Some new users have occasionally reported experiencing temporary stomach upset, so if you are new to taking Black Seed Oil you may benefit from taking it with food, since this can help with better absorption. With this said, many users report that taking it without food provides better results. We would simply advise experimenting to see what works best for you and your lifestyle.

SHOULD I TAKE A BREAK FROM BLACK SEED OIL EVERY SO OFTEN?

This is not something that we recommend. For best results, Black Seed Oil should be taken as an everyday supplement to provide immune support.

CAN YOU OVERDOSE FROM TAKING BLACK SEED OIL?

With most supplements it’s difficult to take too much, since your body usually flushes out the extras. But there are a few exceptions. If you’re not sure about the right dose for you, it’s always a good idea to check with your doctor.

IS IT SAFE TO CONTINUE TAKING BLACK SEED OIL FOR PROLONGED PERIODS?

Black Seed Oil is best used as an everyday preventive supplement, and therefore taking a break from it is something that we advise against.

The idea behind our Dosage & Strength suggestions is that you work your way up through the strengths and gradually increase the dosage to a point that you feel content with. The aim is to rid toxins from the body and then help support the immune system; thus lowering the risk of getting sick again in future.

Whilst its benefits are well-known to help in the treatment of various ailments, prevention is of course better than cure. It is for this reason that we advise introducing Black Seed Oil to your daily routine.

What some customers do choose to do however is work their way up to our Strong oil, and then save the Super-Strength for when an extra boost may be required (Eg. During Flu season).
Or alternatively if you find that our Super-Strength oil works better for you, you may wish to increase your intake a little during Flu season.

Strength & dosage can be increased and decreased as and when required – this will vary from person to person. But we firmly advise against taking a break from it completely.

HOW MANY CAPSULES EQUAL 1x TEASPOON OF OIL?

It’s not really possible to make a direct conversion because milligrams (mg) measure weight, while millilitres (ml) measure volume.

Since our oil is 100% natural and unfiltered, the weight per ml can vary, and this variation becomes even more noticeable with larger volumes — so any conversion wouldn’t be entirely accurate.

Our best advice is to follow the dosage suggestions that we’ve carefully developed over the years, based on both research and customer feedback.

WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS OF YOUR BLACK SEED OIL?

Our Bottled Oil contains one ingredient: Black Seed Oil.
Our Black Seed Oil is virgin cold-pressed from Organic Nigella Sativa Seeds of the highest quality.
Given the cold-press method that we use, no chemicals are required in this process. No additives, colourings, or preservatives are added. And we do not even refine or filter our oils. This way you can rest assured our Oils are 100% pure, just as nature intended.

IS YOUR BLACK SEED OIL ORGANIC?

Natural health is extremely important to us and we truly believe in the natural healing abilities that natures blessed seed has to offer.

We also care greatly about the quality of our products, which is why our oils are 100% Natural, Unfiltered, and contain absolutely no additives or preservatives.

The seeds of which we use are certified Organic in their country of origin.

Whilst we’re not yet allowed to label our products as Organic here in the UK without completing a very lengthy and expensive certification process, we can say that:
1) Our oils are Non-GMO
2) Our plants are grown Organically, and
3) Our Oil is pressed from Organic Nigella Sativa Seeds.

Truth be told, the Nigella Sativa plant doesn’t need any help to grow – merely a hot climate and good quality soil.

UK Organic Certification? We hear you. We’re working on it.

We’ve also put an article together to help explain in more detail why this plant-based ingredient is 100% safe:
Is Carrageenan Safe for Human Consumption?
